Program Overview

When studying theory/composition at the School of Music, you ll become immersed in the world of music. You ll have individual access to your studio professor, and you ll also have a variety of opportunities to experiment with your work as you grow as a musician. Each semester, students showcase new works in a recital entitled Premiere Performances and each year decorated guest composers, along with stellar artists championing the music of our time, come together during the NewMusic@ECU Festival. During that time, it s likely that the same composers and musicians working on the cutting edge of the genre will read your works and coach you along your journey.
