BM Composition students will be able to demonstrate a deep understanding of the repertoire, from past and present times, that is relevant in the evolution of western art music, be able to explain musical works in terms of their historical and theoretical underpinnings, and demonstrate an understanding of the connections between their own compositions and those of the western tradition.
