In this bachelor of music program, you'll complete rigorous academic studies in both music and liberal arts, working closely with our faculty of internationally recognized composers. You'll be actively involved in the performance of your works in concerts and readings by NYU performance groups in residence, school performing ensembles, and chamber groups specially hired for specific composition concerts and collaborate with performers, dancers, and actors at NYU and throughout New York City.

Program Overview

In this bachelor of music program, you'll complete rigorous academic studies in both music and liberal arts, working closely with faculty of acclaimed songwriters. In the Contemporary Production and Songwriting concentration, you'll participate in the Songwriters Forum, a seminar geared toward developing the art and craft of writing popular songs. In this series of master classes, you'll write and develop your songs, receive feedback from professional songwriters, and collaborate with other lyricists and composers. You ll benefit from one-on-one, private lessons with members of our outstanding faculty. And you ll take courses in songwriting history and criticism, studio production skills and techniques, the business structure of the music industry, recording technology, and related fields.
