Program Overview

This concentration is designed for students who want to grow as artists, learn and practice advanced performance techniques and study relevant repertoire in a variety of styles in their selected performance area. Courses are performance-centered and focus on literature, pedagogy and additional performance opportunities. A senior recital is required for this concentration. Students who choose to concentrate in Music Applied Studies can double major, receiving a B.A. in Music, along with a degree in engineering, pharmacy, business or other discipline within the Getty College of Arts & Sciences. With a concentration in Music Applied Studies, you will be positioned to excel in your chosen performance area. Options after graduation include graduate school in a music discipline (i.e., conducting or music therapy), an artistic and/or administrative position with a music organization, work as a private music instructor, and many more.
