Program Overview

The Mason Gross School of the Arts Bachelor of Music (B. Music) program combines the strengths of a fine arts conservatory and a major liberal arts research institution. The Bachelor of Music program offers specializations in classical performance, composition, jazz studies, and music education. The program develops well-educated professional musicians who have a deep historical and theoretical understanding of all aspects of music. The department draws on talented and bright students from all over the world and brings in faculty who are foremost performing musicians and scholars. The diversity of our faculty specializations provides a breadth of experience rarely encountered in other programs. You can be trained for a professional career as a performer or performer/educator in the performance and jazz specializations, or if you choose music education, you will graduate with a certification to teach music in New Jersey public schools. An audition is required for admission to the Bachelor of Music (B. Music) program at Mason Gross School of the Arts and students are admitted specifically to one of the four areas of concentration.
