Program Overview

The Bachelor of Music in Composition with emphasis in Theory and Composition is offered for the undergraduate who yearns to discover techniques for composing for orchestra, voice, chamber ensembles, and experimental instruments. This degree requires each student to take composition lessons, composition workshop, and composition forum, and perform in an ensemble each semester while enrolled in the degree. It requires students to have lessons in conducting and in a principle instrument. It also requires courses in theory, ear training, orchestration, music history, and music technology. The culmination of the degree is a senior recital that consists entirely of compositions written by the student.
