The theatre major and minor are tailored to each student's interests. All majors and minors work closely with theatre faculty to determine a course of study that is designed for them. We consider each student's aspirations as theatre professionals and graduate students in top-tier MFA theatre programs. Many students plan to pursue non-theatre careers where production skills lead to success: law school, marketing, management, advertising, education, and a host of other professions.
Theatre majors and minors take courses that examine theatre both in theory and in practice. Students also take hands-on positions with Theatre Fairfield productions as actors, stage managers, designers, playwrights, directors, dramaturgs, and crew members.
US universities use a holistic admissions review. Beyond grades and standardized test scores, they weigh the strength of your overall profile to understand who you are as a student and a person.
Profile Assessment: Creative-field applicants may be assessed through academic preparation, creative ability, visual thinking and, where required, a portfolio. The portfolio may include finished work as well as sketches, experimentation, process development and written explanations. Architecture may value Mathematics, Physics, drawing and spatial thinking, while Art, Design and Fashion programs may place greater emphasis on originality, technical development and the creative process.Advanced Placement(AP) Guidance: AP availability depends on the student's school.
