Program Overview

Drexel’s BSBA in Real Estate Management and Development prepares students to lead in diverse areas of the real estate industry, blending theory with practical, career-focused training. With a curriculum that spans finance, sustainability, law, asset management, and urban development, students gain both broad and specialized knowledge.

The program is completed over 180-186 quarter credits and offers flexible pathways: Three Co-op (5 years), One Co-op (4 years), or No Co-op (4 years). Located in Philadelphia, students benefit from access to one of the country’s most dynamic real estate markets through internships, site visits, and networking with industry leaders.

Course overview

  • Year 1: Introductory courses in Business, Economics, Math, English Composition, and Civic Engagement. Students begin completing business flexible core requirements.

  • Year 2: Core courses in Accounting, Business Law, Finance, and Statistics. Students start major-specific classes such as Real Estate Law and Introduction to Real Estate Management.

  • Year 3: Advanced topics including Real Estate Finance, Sustainability in the Built Environment, Urban Finance and Environmental Planning. Students also complete major electives and participate in co-op (if applicable).

  • Year 4/5: Final-year students complete their Senior Capstone (REMD 491), Real Estate Investment and Asset Management, business impact electives, and free electives, along with their final co-op placements if in the three co-op track.

Experiential Learning (Research, Projects, Internships etc.)

Co-op program:

  • Up to 18 months of paid, full-time work in real estate development firms, asset/property management companies, and investment organizations.

Internships & projects:

  • Students not in the co-op track are encouraged to complete internships or capstone consulting projects.

Industry connections:

  • Students benefit from site visits, networking events, and guest lectures with real estate professionals across Philadelphia.

Progression & Future Opportunities

  • 87% of Drexel undergraduates are employed or in graduate school within 6 months of graduation.

  • Graduates may pursue:

    • Graduate programs: MS in Real Estate, MBA, JD (Law), MS in Urban Planning.

    • Certifications: Real Estate License, LEED Accreditation, Urban Land Institute (ULI) membership.
