Program Overview

The Bachelor of Science in Business and Engineering (BSBE) at Illinois Tech is a STEM-designated, interdisciplinary degree that blends core engineering knowledge with business strategy, analytics, and management. Jointly delivered by the Stuart School of Business and the Armour College of Engineering, the program is designed for students aiming to operate at the intersection of technical innovation and organizational leadership.

Students receive a strong foundation in economics, finance, marketing, supply chain analytics, and organizational behavior, alongside engineering principles such as mechanics, materials, thermodynamics, and project management. The program allows students to choose electives across several engineering disciplines to customize their learning experience.

Illinois Tech’s Elevate program guarantees students real-world experiential learning through internships, IPRO projects, and mentorship. With its prime Chicago location, students benefit from close ties with industry, facilitating strong career outcomes in engineering and business leadership.

Year 1:

  • Core business courses (Introduction to Business, Microeconomics, Macroeconomics)

  • Calculus I & II, Chemistry, and Physics

  • Programming for engineers

Year 2:

  • Financial and managerial accounting, statistics, and analytics

  • Mechanics of materials and solid mechanics

  • Marketing fundamentals and early humanities/social science electives

Year 3:

  • Organizational behavior, operations and supply chain analytics

  • Multiple engineering electives

  • First IPRO project and advanced humanities/social science courses

Year 4:

  • Strategic management capstone (BUS 480)

  • Final IPRO project and advanced engineering electives

  • Humanities/social science and free electives

Experiential Learning (Research, Projects, Internships etc.)
