Program Overview

The BS in Information Systems & Analytics (ISA) at Louisiana State University, offered through the E. J. Ourso College of Business, equips students to solve complex business problems using cutting-edge technology and analytics. This STEM-designated program is available both on-campus in Baton Rouge, LA and fully online via LSU Online. Students can customize their studies through one of three on-campus concentrations: Analytics, Cyber Risk, or Digital Services & Consulting.

Students gain hands-on experience with industry-standard tools such as Python, SQL, R, Tableau, Power BI, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Git, SAS, and JMP. The program’s strong industry alignment and robust experiential learning components, including internships and certification preparation, ensure graduates are career-ready for high-demand roles in IT, cybersecurity, and analytics.

Course Overview:

  • Year 1: Core foundations in English, algebra, calculus, natural sciences, and introduction to management information systems.

  • Year 2: Financial and managerial accounting, economics, statistics, and general education courses.

  • Year 3: Advanced English, specialized ISA core and business electives, and communication skills.

  • Year 4: Capstone strategy course, advanced ISA electives, and high-level business courses aligned with student concentrations.

Experiential Learning (Research, Projects, Internships etc.)

  • Internships and industry consulting projects with real companies in analytics, cybersecurity, and IT management.

  • Case competitions and entrepreneurship pitch challenges (e.g., J Terrell Brown Venture Challenge) offering hands-on problem-solving and networking.
