Program Overview

The BS in Marketing at Louisiana State University, offered through the E. J. Ourso College of Business, prepares students to understand and apply marketing principles across consumer behavior, branding, digital marketing, analytics, and professional sales. The program provides a strong foundation in market segmentation, strategic decision-making, and modern promotional techniques, equipping graduates for dynamic roles in business, advertising, public relations, and data-driven marketing.

Students can specialize in one of three industry-relevant concentrations: Digital Marketing, Marketing Analytics, or Professional Sales. The curriculum emphasizes hands-on learning through projects, software applications, and real-world internships, fostering a deep connection between theory and practice. 

Course Overview:

  • Year 1: English Composition, College Algebra, Business Calculus, Natural Sciences, Humanities, and Introduction to Management Information Systems.

  • Year 2: Microeconomics, Macroeconomics, Accounting, Business Statistics, Arts, and General Education courses.

  • Year 3: Managerial Accounting, Principles of Marketing, Oral & Written Communication, upper-level business electives, and core marketing electives.

  • Year 4: Advanced marketing electives tailored to student concentrations, upper-level business electives, and the capstone Strategic Management course.

Concentrations:

Experiential Learning (Research, Projects, Internships etc.)

  • Internships: Students may earn up to six credit hours for practical marketing work experience with local, regional, or national companies.

  • Sales Practicum & Internship: Students in the Professional Sales concentration gain hands-on sales experience, mentored by industry professionals and faculty.

  • Hands-On Coursework: Real-world projects using industry-standard tools like Google Analytics, HubSpot, Tableau, and campaign management platforms.
