Program Overview

The Bachelor of Science in Construction Management at Michigan Technological University prepares students to successfully plan, supervise, and deliver building and commercial construction projects.

Offered by the College of Business in collaboration with the Department of Civil, Environmental, and Geospatial Engineering, this ACCE-accredited program blends technical construction knowledge with core business management skills. 

Course Overview

  • Year 1: Calculus or Precalculus, Composition, General Chemistry or Physics, Introduction to Business/Construction, Principles of Economics, Global Issues, Communication/Social Science Elective

  • Year 2: Surveying and Site Planning, Construction Materials and Methods, Principles of Accounting, Construction Graphics/Blueprint Reading, Statistics or Business Analytics, Lab Science, HASS Electives

  • Year 3: Construction Estimating, Project Scheduling and Control, Construction Law and Contracts, Construction Safety (OSHA training), Business Law/Finance/Management, HASS Upper Division Electives, Free Electives

  • Year 4: Capstone: Construction Project Management, Sustainable Construction, Advanced Estimating or Electives, Internship/Co-op (strongly encouraged), HASS Upper Division Electives, Free Electives

Experiential Learning (Research, Projects, Internships etc.)

  • Required capstone in construction project management
