Program Overview

The Bachelor of Business Administration (B.B.A.) in Accounting at the University of Oklahoma is delivered through the AACSB-accredited John T. Steed School of Accounting, housed within the Price College of Business. This program prepares students for a wide range of accounting careers in public, private, government, and nonprofit sectors. It also provides foundational knowledge necessary for graduate study, such as the Master of Accountancy (MAcc) at OU.

The program requires a minimum of 120 credit hours, with at least 40 upper-division credit hours. Students must meet a minimum 2.50 GPA in three categories: overall, within the major, and in upper-division business courses. The degree includes a combination of general education, business core, and major-specific coursework.

Experiential Learning (Research, Projects, Internships etc.)

  • First Fidelity Bank Integrated Business Core (IBC) Program
    A signature undergraduate program where students launch and manage real businesses. Roles such as CEO, CFO, and Marketing Director allow students to apply concepts from accounting, finance, supply chain, and HR in a real-world setting.

  • Senior Capstone Projects
    Students engage in consulting assignments, case competitions, or business simulations, applying academic knowledge to solve real-world business challenges.

  • Consulting and On-Campus Incubators
    Students can work with startups, nonprofits, and established firms through the Ronnie K. Irani Center for the Creation of Economic Wealth (ICCEW) and other incubators.

  • JCPenney Leadership Program
    Offers structured leadership development, including board service with nonprofits and networking with alumni.

  • Entrepreneurship and Innovation Opportunities
    Through the Tom Love Innovation Hub, students access maker spaces, 3D printing, and prototyping tools to develop and test entrepreneurial ideas. Courses like ENT 2113 emphasize hands-on business creation.

  • Internships and Industry Partnerships
    Price College actively supports student internships with regional, national, and global organizations. Strong industry ties enable frequent guest lectures, company visits, and career networking.

  • Global and Cross-Cultural Experiences
    International programs and collaborations expose students to global business operations and cultural perspectives, even at the undergraduate level.

    Students compete in business case competitions and strategic simulations under real-world constraints.

Progression & Future Opportunities

  • Admission to the major requires formal admission to the University of Oklahoma and the Price College of Business
