Program Overview

The Bachelor of Science in Business Analytics at the University of Cincinnati’s Carl H. Lindner College of Business prepares students to turn business data into meaningful insights and better operational and strategic decisions. It is well suited to students who enjoy mathematics, problem-solving and technology and want to apply descriptive, predictive and prescriptive analytics across areas such as marketing, finance, supply chain, healthcare and other industries.

Curriculum Structure

Year 1: Students establish their business, mathematical and communication foundations through courses such as Essentials of Business, Business Communication, Introduction to Microeconomics and Calculus I. They also develop their understanding of entrepreneurship and business pathways while progressing through Calculus II and other general education requirements.

Year 2: Students begin their dedicated analytics training with Business Analytics I and Business Analytics II, supported by Financial Accounting, Managerial Accounting and Digital Technologies for Business. Year 3: Students move into advanced business knowledge through Business Finance, Operations Management, Management, Global Environment of Business and Design Thinking and Ethics in Business. Their analytical development continues through major courses such as Data Mining and Analysis, Spreadsheet Analytics and Forecasting and Risk Analysis, building the ability to investigate business problems using structured analytical approaches.

Year 4: The final year emphasizes advanced decision-making, data interpretation and strategic application through Decision Models, Descriptive Analytics and Data Visualization and Data Management for Analytics. Students complete the program with the Business Strategy capstone, bringing together business knowledge and analytics to address organizational challenges.
