Program Overview

The Management, B.B.A. at Georgia State University prepares students to lead people, analyze business challenges, improve operations, and make informed decisions across a range of industries. Students build a broad business foundation and then choose from four concentrations—Business Analytics, Human Resource Management, Management Consulting, or Supply Chain and Operations Management—allowing them to shape the degree around their career interests.

Curriculum Structure

First Year: Students begin by developing their general business foundation and understanding how organizations operate, communicate, and make decisions. Courses such as MGT 3400 – Managing People in Organizations introduce students to teamwork, motivation, and organizational challenges while providing an early opportunity to work on a real nonprofit fundraising project.

Second Year: Students progress into management subjects that strengthen their understanding of people, leadership, operations, and workplace decision-making. Coursework can include areas such as Managing Human Resources, Becoming a Leader, Negotiation, and Working in Teams, helping students develop the interpersonal and organizational skills needed in management roles.

Third Year: Students begin moving toward advanced management study and their selected concentration. Depending on their interests, they may explore MGT 4300 – Managing Human Resources, MGT 4700 – Operations Management, or concentration subjects such as MGT 4020 – Introduction to Business Intelligence, MGT 4710 – Supply Chain Management, and MGT 4730 – Project Management.

Fourth Year: The final stage focuses on advanced, career-oriented management study. Business Analytics students can take MGT 4110 – Analysis of Business Data and MGT 4140 – Business Modeling; Human Resource Management students can study MGT 4360 – Human Resource Selection and MGT 4390 – Compensation; Management Consulting students can take MGT 4910 – Management Consulting Skills and MGT 4920 – Management Consulting Cases; while Supply Chain and Operations Management students can study MGT 4770 – Service Operations Management.

Students can gain practical experience through:

  • MGT 3400 – Managing People in Organizations: Students work in teams of six to eight on a nonprofit fundraising project, developing teamwork, motivation, adaptability and leadership skills before presenting the proceeds to their selected charity.

  • Panthers Accelerated Career Experience (PACE): Student teams act as consultants for a company, work on a business problem and present their recommendations to the client at the end of the semester.

  • Management Consulting concentration: Students can take BUSA 4500 – Panther Accelerated Consulting Experience, alongside MGT 4910 – Management Consulting Skills and MGT 4920 – Management Consulting Cases, creating a direct connection between consulting coursework and applied problem-solving.

  • RISE — Robinson Immersive Sophomore Experience: This semester-long program combines personal and career development with internship opportunities, mentoring, networking events and speaker sessions.

  • Career and employer engagement: Robinson provides resume reviews, mock interviews, networking sessions and hands-on projects with employers for course credit.

  • Career tools: Students can use Handshake to search for jobs and internships, apply for positions and campus interviews, and register for employer information sessions and workshops.

  • Panther Immersion Programs: Robinson offers career immersion experiences including Panthers in Charlotte, Panthers in Chicago, Panthers in the District, and Panthers on Wall Street, giving students opportunities to engage with business communities beyond campus.
