Ohio University

Program Overview

Ohio University’s Bachelor of Business Administration in International Business prepares students to understand how companies operate across borders, cultures, markets, and international business environments. It suits students interested in global careers involving international marketing and sales, exporting and importing, supply chains, market analysis, human resources, consulting, and other cross-cultural business activities.

Curriculum Structure

First Year:
Students begin by building a broad business foundation through courses such as BA 1100: Introduction to Business and Ethical Reasoning, ECON 1030: Principles of Microeconomics, and ECON 1040: Principles of Macroeconomics. They also develop professional communication and quantitative skills through BA 1500: Introduction to Business Communication and Professional Skills, MATH 1350: Survey of Calculus, and ACCT 1010: Foundations of Accounting, giving them the core knowledge needed for more advanced business study.

Second Year:
The second year develops students' understanding of business decision-making, analytics, finance, law, and the major functional areas of business. Coursework includes QBA 1720: Descriptive Analytics, FIN 3000: Introduction to Corporate Finance, and the Business Cluster, an integrated 12-credit experience combining MKT 2400, BA 2500, MGT 2100, and MIS 2020 so students can connect marketing, management, analytics, and information systems.

Third Year:
Students move into more advanced business applications through MGT 3200: Operations Management, major-specific International Business coursework, and the required BBA internship or approved experiential-learning option. The updated International Business curriculum also allows students to develop contemporary global-business expertise through track options such as MIS 2800: Business Intelligence and Information Management, FIN 3200: Financial Statement Analysis and Financial Modeling, MKT 4040: Logistics and Supply Chain Management, and MGT 3270: Sustainable Supply Chain Management.
