Business Administration BS - International Business Concentration

4 Years On Campus Bachelors Program

University at Buffalo SUNY

Program Overview

The B.S. in Business Administration with an International Business concentration gives students a global perspective on economics, international trade, corporate cultures, cross-border marketing and international finance, making it a strong choice for students interested in working across countries and markets. Students build a broad business foundation and then explore how organizations operate internationally through subjects covering global business environments, trade, international business cultures, finance and marketing.

Curriculum Structure

First Year

Students begin by developing their foundation in economics, mathematics, statistics and the social sciences while completing the University's broader undergraduate requirements. Courses such as ECO 181 Introduction to Macroeconomics, ECO 182 Introduction to Microeconomics and MGQ 201 Introduction to Statistics for Analytics establish the economic and quantitative knowledge needed for later business study.

Second Year

The second year moves into core business subjects and introduces students to accounting, marketing, finance and organizational management. Courses such as MGA 201 Introduction to Accounting I, MGA 202 Introduction to Accounting II and MGM 301 Principles of Marketing help students understand how organizations manage financial information, markets and customers before applying these concepts internationally.

Third Year

Students develop a broader management perspective through subjects such as MGF 301 Corporation Finance, MGO 302 Production and Operations Management and MGB 301 Organizational Behavior and Administration. These courses help students understand financial decision-making, business operations and organizational behavior, providing the foundation for analyzing companies operating across different markets.

Fourth Year

The International Business concentration brings the global focus into sharper view through approved courses such as GEO 330 Dynamics of International Business, GEO 333 International Trade, GEO 334 International Business Cultures, MGF 403 International Financial Management and MGM 483 International Marketing. Students can choose the concentration courses that best match their interests while developing an understanding of global strategy, trade barriers, cross-cultural management, international finance and marketing across national boundaries; the concentration also requires two semesters of a foreign language.

Focus Areas

International business, global economics, international trade, cross-cultural management, international business cultures, global marketing, international finance, corporate strategy, foreign-language proficiency, global business research

Learning Outcomes

Students develop the ability to analyze international business environments, understand global trade and investment, evaluate cultural influences on organizations, apply financial and marketing concepts across borders, communicate across cultures, and make informed business decisions in an increasingly interconnected global economy.
