Software is at the core of computer science, and you'll become a proficient coder in this program. More importantly, though, you'll gain a deep understanding of computer science and you'll learn to solve hard problems to make software even better and more useful.
As an undergraduate at Clarkson, you'll study topics such as:
- Software design and development
- Algorithms and data structures
- Operating systems and computer networks
- Artificial intelligence, machine learning and computer vision
- Virtual reality and human-computer interaction
- Cryptography and cybersecurity
The Department of Computer Science is a small, research department, which is an unusual combination for a computer science program. Our small size leads to a friendly, collaborative atmosphere among students, and to personal attention from the faculty.
- Application
- A GPA of 3.0 or higher out of (4.0 score)
- Official secondary school transcript, mark sheets or national exam scores.
- Two letters of recommendation.
- Test optional: SAT/ACT scores*. If submitted, the scores will be taken into consideration during the admissions process. Clarkson also accepts self-reported test scores.
- TOEFL iBT: 80 or IELTS 6.5 overall.
- Personal statement or essay (250-500 words)

- Provide a certified letter from your sponsor indicating the amount of support available for each year, along with a supporting letter from a bank official.
