Program Overview

Stetson University offers two specific music education degrees: one in the vocal arts, and another in the instrumental arts. Both degrees are not only industry standard in coursework and all attendant accreditations and licensures, but both also come with more guided practica, field work and conducting opportunities than you will find at most schools.Stetson University's School of Music focuses on the undergraduate student by holding enrollment to 220. You will study your applied instrument with an artist faculty member. Performance opportunities are vast -- there are no graduate students teaching undergraduates or competing for spots in ensembles. You will enjoy personal attention plus the resources of the larger university community, and you will develop not only as an artist but also as a person. The experiences gained through actual performance of major literature and the personal bonds forged with professors are invaluable.

complete an application for admission to a program of study leading to certification;complete a Candidate Acknowledgement of Professional Expectations;present a minimum 2.5 grade point average for all college work taken at Stetson;present a grade of C or higher in at least one Writing Enhanced course;present a passing score on all areas of the General Knowledge (GK) Test;earn a grade of C or better in all credit-bearing EDUC and MUED courses;present a minimum 2.5 grade point average in specialization courses (major field of study);
