There are millions of deaf and hard-of-hearing people in the United States, with a growing population in the State of Maryland and on the Eastern Shore. Deaf and hard-of-hearing individuals have their own language, schools, clubs, social rules and culture, and there is a need for professionals who can work with this community. Salisbury University's deaf studies minor is designed to prepare students in various disciplines to provide improved and accessible skills by learning the culture and language of the population.

Apply using the Salisbury University Application, Original or attested copies of all transcripts, diplomas, mark sheets and certificates from all secondary and post-secondary schools attended are required, All credentials must be official, original documents or notarized attested copies of the original, submit proof of English proficiency-Completion of Salisbury University's English Language Institute or another approved English Language partner of Salisbury University, TOEFL 79 iBT or higher, 550 pBT or higher; IELTS 6.5 or higher overall band score, 5.5 minimum in each band; SAT Critical Reading old -- 420, ACT English Section Only - 21, GCE/GCSE/IGCSE-Grade of A, B or C in First-Language English; EIKEN pre - 1 level; provide official SAT or ACT scores, a letter of recommendation and a personal statement are strongly encouraged
