BS Special Education

The Special Education Program empowers their students through preparation of teachers who function effectively in collaboration with regular classroom teachers an d focusing on the educational needs of students with disabilities in a regular classroom setting. To understand the field as an evolving and changing discipline based on philosophies, evidence-based principles and theories and demonstrating respect for their students first as unique human beings. To understand that the beliefs, traditions, and values across and within cultures can affect relationships, teacher candidates will develop a repertoire of evidence-based instructional strategies to individualize instruction for diverse individual needs.
