Program Overview

The Child Development Major is designed for students planning careers in early childhood education in public or private schools, and/or social service agencies. It focuses on studies of the growth and development of children in relation to the family, school, and community. The Child Development Major is designed as a complete four-year program at La Verne, but it also complements community college programs in Early Education. A record of current immunization must be submitted to the program advisor. Students interested in the Child Development BS/MS 4+1 program should refer to the requirements specific to that program.
