Electrical Apprenticeship Program

4 Years Blended Bachelors Program

Roger Williams University

Program Overview

The four-year Electrical Apprenticeship Program offers the student advantages unlike other programs. We are the only higher education institution in the state with full National Center for Construction Education and Research accreditation (NCCER) - www.nccer.org. As such, we offer full NCCER accreditation at the end of our four-year program. NCCER is a nationally recognized industry standard which is highly regarded by potential employers both as an incentive to hire and for higher wages.Because this four (4) year program is NCCER accredited, students will be required to take chapter tests and maintain a 70% average at year-end to proceed to the next year of the program. In addition, the student will have a lab component as part of the program, allowing them to practice the skills needed by every electrician. Students will also take workshops focusing on financial literacy, job skills preparation, soft skills, and time management. The RWU Electrical Apprenticeship Program is unique and will assure the student is prepared for their next steps to enter the workforce at a higher level. As an additional bonus, students will earn college credits which can be used for further education at University College through Prior Learning Assessment (PLA.) Upon successful completion of the RWU Electrical Apprenticeship Program, a participant is eligible to have the coursework transcribed for 42 college credits. A successful participant must apply and be accepted to University College | RWU as a matriculating student and successfully complete one semester prior to the credit being transcribed. We understand these are times of uncertainty due to COVID-19, however, please be assured that we are closely monitoring RI State Department of Health (DOH) guidelines. As of now, we are planning to hold the program in a hybrid model for Fall 2021, which means online and in person. Monday classes will be online and Wednesday classes will be in-person. The in-person classes are held at 1 Empire Plaza in Providence, Rhode Island. Please note parking is provided.
