The Asbury University English Department prepares students to engage with the written word in a variety of contexts. At Asbury University you can study literature, creative writing, teaching English at the high school and middle school levels, and teaching English as a second languageThe department s English major is based around a classic core of literature courses, while allowing for a wide range of elective courses and special topic seminars. Its Creative Writing major focuses on fiction, nonfiction, and poetry. The English Grades 8-12 major prepares students for certification for teaching English at the high school and middle school levels.

Completed Asbury Academy application, official high school transcript showing a weighted cumulative grade point average of 3.00 or higher for high school seniors and a 3.25 or higher for high school juniors, Official examination scores from the ACT or SAT are required for admittance to certain classes ENG 110 Exposition and Research ACT English 22 / SAT Critical Reading 510, ENG 151 Advanced Exposition and Research ACT English 27 / SAT Critical Reading 660, MAT 120 Viewing Life Mathematically ACT Math 22 / SAT Math 510, Academic Recommendation letter, Written permission from a parent or guardian, English Proficiency Tests: a minimum score of 80 on the internet-based Test of English as a Foreign Language TOEFL or 550 on the paper-based TOEFL. IELTS applicants must present a minimum score of 6.5, Statement of Financial Responsibility
