Our program will allow you to discover connections between literature and your own world.You'll join a dynamic community of teacher-scholars who believe in the power of great literature to speak to students. Our faculty offer individual attention and will mentor you to expand beyond your horizons and apply critical skills in new ways.You'll have opportunities for hands-on, exciting internships where you can take what you learn in the classroom into real-world situations and connect with professionals working in a wide array of industries.You will learn about English and the world through coursework that blends history, art, philosophy, religion, science and other subjects.You will develop the skills necessary to analyze texts and to broaden your perspectives. You will learn to clearly and precisely communicate your ideas in writing and in oral presentations. A 3.0 GPA prior to admission.Satisfactory GRE scores.A brief, typewritten autobiography, speaking to the candidate's family background, educational background, work experiences and the reasons for choosing teaching as a profession.An interview with a member of the education department.A program plan of study signed by the adviser, and, in the case of adolescence or secondary education programs, also signed by the chair of the subject area department.Sign a Dispositional Commitment Form.
