BA in English Literature

4 Years On Campus Bachelors Program

University of Evansville

Program Overview

Literature majors explore the masterpieces of American, British, and World literature. In doing so, Literature majors develop their skills in analytical reading, scholarly writing, critical thinking, and public speaking. The Literature program is anchored in survey courses that introduce students to the foundational works of American and British literature. Students then choose from special topics courses and regular curricular offerings to refine and explore their own areas of interest. Courses are designed to promote student engagement in textual analysis and cultural context beyond the classroom, and faculty act as mentors through independent studies, internships, and research projects. After graduation, UE Literature majors prove the versatility of their major through their careers in diverse fields like business, law, religious life, library science, and publishing. They also earn advanced degrees in nationally recognized graduate schools.
