Program Overview

The Applied Linguistics is intended for students interested in careers in language teaching, whether teaching English abroad or the area of Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) within the U.S. The track features a teaching internship. The BA can be a terminal degree, or can prepare the student to enter MA programs in Education and certification programs in TESOL. Majors in this track receive a thorough grounding in the structure of English and also learn about many other languages. They become knowledgeable about the function of language in society and receive practical teaching experience.
