Program Overview

For Berea College, sustainability refers to the capacity of individuals, communities, and societies to coexist in a manner that maintains social justice, environmental integrity, and economic well-being today, and for future generations. Established in 1999, the Sustainability and Environmental Studies SENS Department is an interdisciplinary academic department centered on ecological design -- the purposeful integration of human actions with the structures and functions of the natural world. The department views conservation, as well as environmental justice, to be equally important initiatives.

International Application for Admission, Personal Essay , Copy of Secondary school records, university transcripts, matriculation exams, and other leaving exams appropriate to your country, Two Teacher Recommendation Forms, One Financial Resources Confirmation Form, Copy of score reports from at least one of the following exams: TOEFL, IELTS, ACT, SAT or Duolingo, A minimum TOEFL score of 520 paper-based test and 68 internet-based test or IELTS score of 6.0 is required of all successful applicants for admission to Berea College. Nearly all admitted students score above 550 on the TOEFL 79 internet-based test or 6.5 on the IELTS with an average TOEFL score for successful applicants of approximately 600 100 internet-based test or IELTS average score of 7.0. ACT minimum: 19 and SAT minimum: 1330, Personal Statement of Financial Circumstances, International Financial Recommendation Form, Two Admission Recommendation Forms.
