Program Overview

The Department of Agricultural and Resources Economics undergraduate program provides education and coursework to prepare students to think analytically and apply decision-making skills to problems of production and distribution of food products and the management of natural resources and the environment. The program is highly flexible and caters to individualized interests while the curriculum allows students to develop multiple skills and interests from the major areas of study and concentrations offered. Concentration in Environmental Economics and Policy prepares students to assist in making public and private decisions about environmental and natural resource issues, and the policies surrounding them, both nationally and internationally. Issues studied include environmental quality, energy use, natural resource management, and valuation of natural resources. Students will learn to apply tools such as benefit-cost analysis, and risk and investment decision-making. This training will prepare students for careers in federal, state, or community governments as well as private businesses that provide services in sustainability, environmental, or natural resource areas.
