Program Overview

Environmental Geoscience B.S. majors take courses in geology and biology that relate to environmental studies. The degree prepares students for employment as an entry-level environmental science technician or for graduate school in environmental science. BYU-Idaho has an agreement with the University of Idaho, Idaho Falls that allows students to complete a M.S. in Environmental Science in 1 year, if certain requirements are met. The U.S. Department of Labor predicts that jobs in environmental science will grow 11% in the next ten years.

"No grade less than C- for major courses.GEOL 111 and CHEM 101 or 105 satisfy major requirements as well as the General Education Natural Science requirement.Many geology courses are only offered once per year; create a grad plan early and follow it.Other Recommended Courses (not required, but useful as electives): AGRON 425, CIT 110, CS 124, GEOL 420, GEOG 240.Students can take GEOG 424 at the University of Idaho Falls Center and substitute it for Environmental Science, but must complete 3 credits from the list of ""Other Recommended Courses"" to finish their BYU-I requirements.Graduation in this program does not imply or guarantee licensure or certification reciprocity or job attainment in Idaho or any other state or country."
