The Department of Geography and Global Studies at Sonoma State houses two distinct majors: the Geography Major and the Global Studies Major. Each major is structured into several distinct concentrations, allowing students to delve deeper into particular regions or subdisciplines that intrigue them. This concentration is designed for students who wish to focus on the natural environment, including weather and climate change, landform processes, and biographical issues and ecosystems. These classes prepare students for entry level positions in career areas such as park services, environmental consulting, agricultural monitoring, geoarchaeology, environmental protection, and many others.
