Students planning on Minoring in Environmental Science should major in either Biology or Chemistry and develop a course selection carefully designed to assist in meeting career goals. Because Environmental Science is an applied field,students are strongly encouraged to include in their programs an internship or practicum at one of the institutions with which Maryville College maintains a research arrangement.
Completed Application for Admission; Official high school (with senior year courses) and/or college transcripts; High School students must submit an official ACT or SAT test score (Maryville's test codes are SAT: 1454,ACT: 3988); One Core Subject Instructor Recommendation; For English Proficiency : TOEFL IBT score of 74 (with no sub score below 18) or CBT score of 200 or paper-based score above 525 combined with demonstrated competency in essay writing; IELTS band score of 6.5 or higher. US universities use a holistic admissions review. Beyond grades and standardized test scores, they weigh the strength of your overall profile to understand who you are as a student and a person.
Profile Assessment: Science applicants are generally assessed on the rigour of their Mathematics and laboratory-science coursework. Relevant preparation may include Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Calculus or Statistics, depending on the intended field. Research, science fairs, Olympiads, laboratory exposure, independent investigation and environmental or community-science projects can demonstrate scientific curiosity and analytical thinking.Advanced Placement(AP) Guidance: AP availability depends on the student's school.
