The Environmental Studies Department at UC Santa Cruz is a leader in innovative, interdisciplinary environmental scholarship and teaching. We offer a broad spectrum of courses that reflect the interests of students and faculty in the various interdisciplinary fields of environmental studies. The Environmental Studies Department is home to some of the most creative faculty and unique research programs in the country. It is comprised of four overlapping research areas:
Typical SAT scores: Math (550-670), Critical reading (520-640), Writing (520-640), ACT Composite (23-29), Average GPA 3.51, TOEFL: IBT- 80, PBT- 550, IELTS-6.5 US universities use a holistic admissions review. Beyond grades and standardized test scores, they weigh the strength of your overall profile to understand who you are as a student and a person.
Profile Assessment: Science applicants are generally assessed on the rigour of their Mathematics and laboratory-science coursework. Relevant preparation may include Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Calculus or Statistics, depending on the intended field. Research, science fairs, Olympiads, laboratory exposure, independent investigation and environmental or community-science projects can demonstrate scientific curiosity and analytical thinking.Advanced Placement(AP) Guidance: AP availability depends on the student's school.
