The College of Arts and Sciences provides a degree with a traditional liberal arts orientation, so the major in environmental sciences is pursued within the context of a liberal arts education.

The interdisciplinary Environmental Sciences major combines a natural science-based core curriculum with hands-on experience needed to identify, analyze, and solve environmental problems arising from human activity. Instructors are active environmental research scientists. Classroom encounters with environmental scientists who are leaders in their field are heightened by hands-on field and service-learning opportunities.
