Program Overview

Greek is an independent branch of the Indo-European family of languages, native to Greece and other parts of the Eastern Mediterranean. It has the longest documented history of any living Indo-European language, spanning 34 centuries of written records. Advanced study of representative modern Greek prose, poetry and drama in the original from independence (1830) to the present. The course combines the study of the modern Greek language with readings, analysis and discussion of major literary works.
