The University of Montana has been offering courses in Arabic for more than a decade. In spring 2012, the academic Minor in Arabic Studies was approved. Currently, the program offers two years of Arabic language as well as a course offered in English that addresses the history, cultures, politics, etc. of the Arabic speaking countries.Also, the Arabic section worked very closely with the Missoula County Public Schools (MCPS) to establish Arabic courses for high school students. For eight years, the Montana Arabic Summer Institute (MASI), attrached many high school students from Missoula and the surrounding areas for intensive summer courses funded by the US National Security Agency (NSA) via the STARTALK program.

Rank in the top half of the school's graduating class; or. Earn an ACT composite score of 22 or higher, or SAT total score of 1120 or higher (exception: MSU Northern: ACT score of 20, SAT score of 1050).The TOEFL, IELTS or MELAB are also required of international applicants who are not graduates of an English-speaking university.
