Program Overview

The The Christian discipleship ministries degree program,is a ministry generalist degree designed to equip graduates focused on developing healthy Christian disciples. Without focusing on a specific age group, the curriculum covers how people learn, and how faith and morality are developed. By learning the correlation, organization and administration of the educational process for children, youth and adults, students learn the process of effective discipleship. Religion is one of the largest university departments of religion in the southeast and has the most extensive graduate program in religious studies in Florida. It is committed to the scholarly investigation of religious phenomena and traditions within the context of a pluralistic culture. The Religion curriculum is divided into four areas of study: Religions of Western Antiquity, History and Ethnography of Religions, American Religious History, and Religion, Ethics, and Philosophy. The department offers a program of honors work in the junior and senior years for religion majors. There is a joint major option available in Religion and Classics, and the department participates in the interdepartmental programs in American Studies, Asian Studies, Humanities, and Women s Studies.
