Program Overview

Offering both a major and minor, Converse's program in Hispanic Studies is designed to give students a wide-ranging and highly personalized introduction to the language, culture and literature of Spain, Spanish America and Hispanics in the United States---and to the increasingly multicultural and transnational contexts that define these cultures today. This student-centered program is committed to the core curriculum of national literatures and cultures, while simultaneously pursuing interdisciplinary projects in fields such as intellectual history and film studies.Converse's Hispanic Studies program gives you insight and intimate understanding of the languages, literature and culture of the Spanish-speaking world. Hispanic Studies at Converse will prepare you with the necessary knowledge, skills, and communication skills to be an effective local and global citizen. Through a diverse range of courses, cultural programming, study abroad opportunities, and our exclusive Spanish Writing and Language Center, Converse's Hispanic Studies program gives you a creative and competitive edge sought in our increasingly international workplace.
