The City College of New York

Program Overview

Students study urbanization processes and the development of distinctive urban forms through the lens of anthropology, urban planning and administration, sociology, history, labor studies, and economics, as well as literary works of prose and poetry. This concentration will give students a historical understanding of how urban areas and neighborhoods have developed. Students will investigate how urban actors, such as labor unions, business interests, public officials, community organizations and social movements influence the policy-making process that shape our cities and metropolitan areas, and the life that unfolds in these spaces.
