Program Overview

Women's, gender, and sexuality studies is rooted in the women's, anti-racist, LGBT, and labor rights movements of the twentieth and twenty-first centuries. It seeks to understand how various societies construct ideas of malenessmasculinity and femalenessfemininity in relation to other social categories and to systems of inequality and privilege. As a field, WGSS has always generated action and organized movements, seeking equality worldwide.
