Program Overview

The sport management major is designed for students intending to pursue careers in leadership within the sport industry. Management and administrative positions are currently a high-growth employment area in sport. Graduates work in a variety of settings including but not limited to: collegiate athletics, recreation, sport marketing, event and facility management, promotions, sales and fundraising, coaching, youth sports, sport communications, public, community, and media relations, sport related agencies, and sports operations. You will learn to plan, organize, establish, lead and appraise within an organization or sector whose primary product and/or service is connected to sport. The sport management program will empower you to be an effective leader and to positively influence others through sport and sport-related programming.
