A history teacher leads students in the study of past events in the United States and around the world They encourage students to look at multiple viewpoints, become informed citizens, and make valid arguments by providing stimulating discussion, readings, and projects on a wide range of topics from recent events to ancient history History teachers often help students process and comprehend the significance of difficult social and political issues Our program prepares students to teach history at the middle school, high school and postsecondary levels by providing them with practical experience in organizing lesson plans in line with curriculum standards, collecting and designing lesson presentations and class assessments and performing other common teaching tasks such as grading assignments
