Program Overview

From news to television to social media, much of our worldview is shaped by the various forms of media that surround us every day. Against the backdrop of such a complex and fast-changing landscape, it's critical to be able to separate fact from fiction and become an informed media consumer.St. Scholastica's well-crafted, dynamic media studies minor focuses on intellectual theory as well as hands-on application. You will learn about social research and the creative writing process, and you'll gain a new understanding of the media's power to influence societies andindividuals.Att the same time, you will be able to use the latest media technology to gain experience in many aspects of on- and off-camera production, both in studio and in the field. For further experiential learning opportunities, you can pursue an internship at a local TV or radio station or performing arts or studio arts communities.
