University of Northern IowaThe digital media production major provides hands-on training from award-winning faculty for a range of media careers in television news and magazine shows, fiction, documentary and web/interactive formats. In our courses, you will learn how to develop scripts and screenplays, operate field and television studio cameras, design creative lighting, record audio for field and music events, and create compelling videos through editing and motion graphics.
The digital media production major is part of the Department of Communication and Media’s digital media program. With concentrations in digital journalism, digital media leadership and digital media production, the program is a hub of creativity, collaboration and innovation.

Profile Assessment: Applicants are generally assessed on writing, communication, creativity and engagement with media or current affairs. Journalism, school publications, podcasting, filmmaking, photography, social-media projects, debate and communication campaigns may strengthen the profile. Some film or media programs may request a creative portfolio, writing sample or supplementary submission.Advanced Placement(AP) Guidance: AP availability depends on the student's school. Relevant APs can strengthen an application and may earn university credit, but are not compulsory unless the university or programme explicitly requires them.Essays & recommendations: Personal essays and teacher/counselor recommendations give context to your achievements and help demonstrate fit with the program.Media Producer
