This program prepares students to become professional nurses. Two distinct categories of students are eligible for admission: The basic student who enters the University without having completed a first level nursing program and the registered nurse student who, having completed the first level, desires further study to expand their nursing capabilities to the BSN professional level.
Complete each of the courses in the comprehensive pattern of college preparatory subject requirements with a grade of C or higher prior to high school graduation.3.0 GPA or greater in college preparatory subjects, AND 3,500 minimum CSULB Index to be considered, for non-STEM major and a 3,600 minimum STEM Index for STEM majors. US universities use a holistic admissions review. Beyond grades and standardized test scores, they weigh the strength of your overall profile to understand who you are as a student and a person.
Profile Assessment: Applicants are generally expected to show strong preparation in Biology and Chemistry, with Mathematics or Physics helpful for some programs. Healthcare volunteering, public-health initiatives, scientific research, first-aid training, community service and supervised clinical exposure may demonstrate empathy, responsibility and understanding of healthcare. Requirements differ considerably by program, particularly for direct-entry Nursing, Pharmacy and allied-health degrees.Advanced Placement(AP) Guidance: AP availability depends on the student's school.
