Dietitians and nutritionists enjoy diverse and increasingly prestigious responsibilities among health professionals. In addition to general, clinical and community dietetics, the clinical dietitian or nutritionist may specialize in metabolic support, renal dietetics, pediatric dietetics, or clinical research. Students are also prepared for graduate school, institutional food service administration and product development for food industry. The Didactic Program in Dietetics (DPD) is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Education in the Nutrition and Dietetics (ACEND) of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics (AND).

Requirements differ considerably by program, particularly for direct-entry Nursing, Pharmacy and allied-health degrees.Advanced Placement(AP) Guidance: AP availability depends on the student's school.
