Program Overview

A joint program and dual major, the BS in Psychiatric Rehabilitation and Psychology is sponsored by the School of Health Related Professions (SHRP) in collaboration with Kean University, Felician College, Georgian Court University or the Newark College of Arts and Sciences. This program will prepare you for a variety of professional roles, for career advancement, and for graduate studies. Fieldwork assignments are an important element of the curriculum. Careers for graduates of this program include case manager, residential counselor, mental health counselor, habilitation counselor, employment specialist, and job coach. In addition, this joint degree includes a psychology major that prepares you for several options for graduate school. In addition, 6 credits earned in the B.S. program can count towards either the M.S. in Psychiatric Rehabilitation or Rehabilitation Counseling offered by the School of Health Related Professions (SHRP). The bachelor's degree program is a dual major, joint degree program. You will major in both Psychiatric Rehabilitation and Psychology. Satisfactory completion of all requirements will result in earning a joint degree from Kean University, Felician College, or Georgian Court University and the School of Health Related Professions. The professional program is located in Scotch Plains. Most courses are offered in the traditional classroom setting. Some courses are web-based or web enhanced.
