ESU's Biotechnology (B.S.) program is one of the first of its kind in Pennsylvania, and it serves the growing biotechnology industry in northeast Pennsylvania, northwestern New Jersey, and the Lehigh Valley.
The powerful tools of biotechnology have revolutionized medicine, agriculture, and environmental protection, and ESU Biotechnology majors are playing a role in this revolution. The Biotechnology program developed as a response to student interest and the need for qualified, well-trained graduates in this emerging field, and our program is one of the first of its kind in Pennsylvania.
The Biotechnology program at ESU provides students with hands-on, personalized instruction with small class sizes, qualified and experienced faculty, state-of-the art laboratory equipment, opportunities for gaining practical lab experience, and participation in internships and undergraduate research. Our graduates also have excellent job placement rates.
About 90% of ESU Biotechnology graduates go on to work for biotechnology and pharmaceutical companies in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and New York.
About 10% of ESU Biotechnology graduates go on to Ph.D. programs and careers in scientific research at universities, research centers, and hospitals.
