Program Overview

The ACS Certified B.S. Degree in Environmental Chemistry option includes a year of in-depth study of the sources, transport, and effects of chemical species that impact the quality of the environment. The goal is to provide the student with insight into how these species are monitored, and an understanding of how to model formation and fate using analytical chemistry and other chemical methods. Additional courses explore the earth s atmosphere and atmospheric pollution including acid rain, global warming and the effects of ozone in the atmosphere. The students will learn about the hydrosphere, water and soil pollution as well as the impact of inorganic metals and organic chemicals on the environment.
