Program Overview

The Department of Philosophy at SIU offers a major and a minor in philosophy, as well as a pre-law specialization in philosophy. The Department is a pluralistic one with undergraduate courses in a variety of traditions, such as analytic philosophy, phenomenology, American philosophy, Asian philosophy and feminism. The faculty has various specializations: the history of philosophy, logic, ethics, metaphysics, political and legal philosophy, the philosophy of science, philosophy of technology, and philosophy of religion.
